Black-necked Grebe.
News at last came out of this BNG from Llanilid. To think I was at Llanilid the day after it was found looking for Butterflies.
Haven't seen a summer plumage BNG since the one I found about 1984 at Cadoxton Ponds.
This stonker takes a little patience as it sits in the middle of the lake for long periods. Only when fishing does it come closer, and with the weather about to break I think my chances of improvement are over for a while!

Dotterel, Tits and Flycatchers.
A very early start this morning for a trip up to Cwm Cadlan for the 2 Dotterel was a great success.Though the wind was very strong the showers never arrived, and we had sunshine all day. The Dotterel at one point came to within 6 ft possibly with the sound of the shutter going over, or the disturbance of insects with us shuffling about. The dotterel never preened so photos were a little boring, having photographed them last year.
We then drove a little further up the A470 and checked out a wood for Pied Flies which was also successful with the added bonus of 3 Marsh Tits. Superb day! Also seen were 2 Ring Ouzels 2 Redstarts Treecreeper and a Red Kite.
