More Little Owls

Another 3 hours in the hide was hot, the light was too bright . We watched a juvenile preening for about an hour, if the light had been better the shots would have been really good.

Butterflies.

Spent a few hours at Ogmore looking for Butterflies with some success.
Saw just two of these White-letter Hairstreaks.

Still a couple of these High-brown Fritillaries
Good to have an upperwing photo to compare with Dark-green Fritilary.
Silver washed Fritillary.

More Little Owls.

With great light the five Owls showed brilliantly for about half hour late afternoon, watched from a hide set up next to a puddle (brought 15 gallons of water to top up the puddle) the Owls were even walking about on the ground but usually moving around on the logs.

One adult even landed on Nigels Van! Unfortunately we both had appointments at 18.30 so we left them to it. We will have to wait now for a bright evening, also we have moved the hide a little closer!

Little Owls

We set up a hide in the hope of seeing Little owls, they have been seen on the logs very recently. Bit of a long shot really, but has paid off. Perhaps we`ll move it a little closer.

A Campion seed head about to disperse it`s seeds.

Lesser Grey Shrike.

Here are a few shots of the Pembrokeshire Shrike. Even when it came at it`s closest it was never really close enough for a `great shot`.

The farmer and his wife arrived after about an hour or so, intrigued as to what was going on. So I jumped in quick with "do you mind if I just get a little closer" reluctantly he agreed. Though the sun was too bright I was happy with the final results!
